Once famous August Thyssen coke plant neighbouring with Bruckhausen blast furnaces was built in 1896 and became the most important and central coke production site for the whole Ruhr area soon.
Despite of major investments into modernization during 50´s and 70´s the coke works were closed in 2003 definitely due to the Schwelgern coke project.

As it´s hopefully clear from the picture the whole site is under demolition today.
