This used to be truth at least until the beginning of 90´s when the plant was shut down for good and slow disintegration has started.
Ironworks established in the first years of 20th century on the south-west part of italian metropolis were important metallurgical centre of Mediterranean till 1992 within continuous pig-iron production decrement in Europe. However blast furnaces were not scrapped then but dismantled and restarted near indian Calcutta then. Rolling-mills found their new station on Taiwan.
Today only the relicts of former combine can be found in Bagnoli; blast furnace no.4, coke battery with extinguishing tower, boiler room building and converter steel-mill hall. The whole site is now owned by ambitioius project BagnoliFutura and waiting for new utilization.
